We really enjoyed our first day of spring to its fullest. We started off the day with our first church visit since moving to Oklahoma. We have a few on our list to try out so this morning it was St. Mark's. The people were so nice and inviting. We even met a fellow West Point graduate and he and his wife got married at the Cadet Chapel where Chad and I were married. (May 1st is our one year anniversary!!) We really enjoyed our visit there. Next Sunday we are visiting Holy Trinity.
After church, we did what apparently everyone in Edmond where doing and we went to Lowe's. We needed a lawn mower and it seemed as though everyone had spring fever. The garden department was filled with people buying this and that to make their yards beautiful. So as Chad mowed the lawn, I potted some new flowers for our front porch and even, dare I say, WEEDED the flower bed. Gasp! I despise yard work. Growing up on 10 acres of land with two parents that absolutely love it will tend to do that to you. My mom always said "Wait until it is your yard." Well, I still haven't quite been bitten by the "pride bug" when it comes to yard work, but we have these gorgeous purple and pink flowers that are blooming in the flower bed and you could hardly see them through the weeds and dead plants. And they smell delicious!! So I just had to rescue them from the immanent doom of being taken over by hideous foliage. (It will look a lot better when we mulch it!)
And the tree in front of our house is blooming purple flowers and it is soooo pretty!!
Now all we need is for our grass to start turning green and our little yard will look so nice. So at the end of the day we have a freshly cut lawn and pretty blooming flowers. Never mind that Chad's eyes are so bloodshot from his sinuses being irritated and I will be picking dirt out of my fingernails for weeks. We are no longer the sore sight on the block! And to finish our spring evening, Chad is cooking turkey burgers on the grill and I will no doubt be sitting next to him with my glass of ice tea and the latest issue of Southern Living. Ok, so it will probably be my new issue of Parent Magazine but Southern Living just seemed to fit the spring motif. But since we are 'spring dreaming', let's go ahead and say I will be sitting on our new swing with our baby boy in my arms and my body is EXACTLY as it was before I got pregnant. And instead of tea, I am drinking wine. YAY! I love spring dreaming!!
