A Rocky Top Vacation

The Mihalek Clan
We went to Tennessee for the week to have a vacation with Chad's family. We rented a cabin in the Smoky Mountains with his parents and his brother's family. The weather was wonderful and it was a nice relaxing vacation.

We enjoyed the hot tub, the pool and of course some amazing scenery in the mountains. We even enjoyed a little Smoky Mountain Blackberry Moonshine! There is nothing quite like enjoying your first morning cup of coffee on the porch in a rocking chair looking at some of God's greatest creations.

Beautiful view of the mountains
The front porch was also good for rocking a tired baby boy
We saw a lot of nature on our visit. Deer, raccoons, and we even got to see a black bear! It was the first time I had ever seen one in the wild. It was a pretty cool experience. We walked to the highest point in Tennessee. (Ok, so Chad and the other guys did. Brooke, Sue and I didn't make it all the way to the top. It was FREEZING!)

All the boys at the very top!
Poor Gavin was so tired!

We had a wonderful time and we hated to see it end. It is always nice to spend a few days with family. Especially when it seemed like the weather was made to order and everyone got along so well. Gavin's older cousins, Beau and Cade, were so sweet with him. They played with him and included him in all of their playing. They are getting in good practice for the arrival of their baby brother, Knox. He'll be here in September! I am blessed to have such wonderful in-laws and we really enjoyed spending the time with everyone.

We made it home last night. We were welcomed by extreme Oklahoma wind and the reality of what all we have to finish up this week. My delusion of someone mysteriously coming in while we were gone and finishing up was quickly squashed when I opened the door and there sat all the boxes, bubble wrap and unpacked furniture. There are times I wish I could clone myself and this is definitely one of them! However, our sweet neighbor mowed our lawn while we were gone. I asked him if it was because it was so awful looking they just couldn't stand the sight of it anymore and he sweetly replied that he was just trying to help. How sweet!! Chad's office is throwing him a party tomorrow night so we are looking forward to that. Then while everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend with cookouts and swimming, we will be busy packing up. Hopefully we will be able to squeeze in a few hotdogs and beers here and there! Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend!
