Please do not think that it has slipped my mind that Chad is the one overseas, working all sorts of crazy hours, away from his friends and family and is the one that truly needs the rest and relaxation. And don't think for one minute I never wished him to be with me while I was on vacation. But the opportunity presented itself and by God, I took it!! Ok, so more like I snatched it and ran out the door with it screaming like a six year old on Christmas day.
My dad had a convention in Marco Island, Florida and asked me if I wanted to go. I never once thought of saying no. I did however, ponder on whether or not to take Gavin with me. I had never been away from him that long and he would have loved the pools and the beach. But that is a very long drive and the more I thought about it, the more I really wanted to take advantage of some "me time". So Mom and Grammie took Gavin for the week and I was off to paradise and the land of sleeping in and actually getting to pee alone.
I had a fabulous time. I got to see so many people that I used to work for and catching up with old friends is always wonderful. The resort we stayed at was nothing short of fantastic and having fresh lobster at the beach is pretty much the definition of heaven to me. We had a bit of bad weather the first day but after that, the clouds rolled back and the sun shone through and it was pristine Florida beach weather!

I completely enjoyed getting to start and finish a book with no interuptions, relaxing out in the sun and enjoying a few glasses of wine with old friends and doing so for as long as I wanted. However, I missed my baby boy terribly. I never did sleep in past 7:30 and peeing along was not as exciting as I expected it be. So by the time Friday rolled around, I was ready to hit the road back home and see my special blue eyes.
We made it home safely and I have to say, Gavin was as excited to see me as I was to see him. Vacation is always wonderful but it is so nice to be home. Even if it is a temporary one!
