I wanted to start off saying that thankfully through all the tragedy that Oklahoma has befallen the last few days, that we are all ok. We are so sad to watch all of this unfold in our neighboring town of Moore. It is not far from us and we even have a few friends that live there. It is total devastation as I'm sure you have seen on television. Chad has been down there assisting with security and emergency crews. He's pretty speechless when I asked him what he saw. I can't imagine what it looks like in real life. Unfortunately lives were lost, including children and my continued prayers go out to those families.
Honestly, the day before was actually worse for us. I was in Target and Chad and Gavin were home. While I was in Target the tornado alarm went off and they ushered all of us to the front of the store and put us in their back hallway. Chad and Gavin were taken in by our old neighbors to a near by safe room. I was scared out of my mind!!! The power went out, I was huddled with a bunch of strangers in a back room without my family. Most people that were with me were acting like it was no big deal, just another day. Which was good for me because inside I was falling apart. I'm not sure I'll ever get used to this. But thankfully we were all ok. A small tornado touched down in Edmond but it only did structural damage and no one was hurt. I will be so thankful when we get moved into our house and we will have our own storm shelter.
Which brings me to my next topic: we are building a house!!! We are so very excited and so far the stress level has been minimal. Of course we still have a lot to go through but we hope it won't be too big of a headache! We have a beautiful lot and are building a house that is going to be just perfect for us. They are clearing the lot now and should be pouring our foundation soon.
So we are very excited about this new adventure in our lives and I am especially excited about having our storm shelter. This huddling in the back of stores is for the birds. But seriously, keep Moore in your prayers. There are people without homes and some without family members. But I have been absolutely amazed at how Oklahoma as a community as come together to help out this town. They were lined up almost immediately after the storm passed. It's truly an amazing thing to see. We are fine and thankful we are ok and together!
