It Was a Dark Knight

I was so bummed that it took so long for us to move into our house. I was looking forward to decorating our new home with all sorts of Halloween decorations. But the home owning stars did not align for us in time to make it worth our while to pull out the insane amount of Halloween decorations I own. However, Gavin's pure joy and delightment in the festivities of the day made up for all of that. I knew this Halloween was going to be fun but I didn't know it was going to be THAT fun! We had just moved into our house the week before, so we were still trying to unpack. But luckily I had already made his Halloween costume so it was ready to go!

This year he was the dark knight himself.... BATMAN!! He was sooooo cute in his costume and amazingly enough, he even wore the mask. I really did not think he was going to wear it. I envisioned bribing him with whatever it took just to get him to wear it for pictures. But alas, I did not need such tactics. He wore it proudly and for much longer than necessary.

So dark and mysterious, right??

One thing I've learned, all boys love capes.

We got him all dressed up and we decided to practice our trick or treating skills. He was amazed that he could go up and ring the doorbell. Poor kid has been so deprived his whole life and had never had the pleasure of repeatedly ringing a doorbell. (The result of that knowledge is a whole other story. And not a fun one for Mom.) So we loaded him up in the wagon and he and Daddy went off to collect candy and fight crime! I stayed at the house to give out candy to all the other kids. It was SO MUCH fun! It was a great way for us to meet all of our neighbors. The boys came by and got me so I got to take Gavin to a few houses. By the time I joined them, he was a trick or treating champ!

So it was a lot of fun and Gavin thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. He and another little boy in the neighborhood ran around for an hour just playing in the yard while all the adults chatted. It was a nice little introduction to our new neighborhood and all the fun and excitement it should be for Gavin. However, next year, my decorations WILL be out!!
