TA DA!!!

And here is the nursery in all of its glory!! We are so glad to finally get it done and have it ready for Gavin's arrival. We can't thank our friends and family enough for helping us get everything we need to be prepared as we can be for him to come home. I have had this vision in my head of what I wanted to do to the nursery ever since we found out we were pregnant with a baby boy. It is so nice to finally see it come to fruition. I wanted to do a nature theme but without using the same pattern throughout the room. I wanted to use different pieces and to do a lot of them myself.

So we went with crickets for the bedding:

I painted his name to go above the crib:

And I got these number cards from a really cute website. I painted the frames:

And we have a wise owl on the dresser with a cricket lamp and a rocking horse. The dresser is a piece that Chad got when he was in Germany. He sanded it down and stained it to match the crib:

I sort of stole this idea from something a friend sent me a while ago. It was an actual picture but I wanted to paint it myself. I loved the tree and the moon and this way Gavin will always know how much his mommy and daddy love him.

The book shelf with all of his toys and books. And of course to proudly display his West Point cadet teddy bear. Unfortunately we did not have time to stain this to match the rest of the furniture. The picture hanging up on the left side is one that I found in a clearance bin. I have long been a fan of Disney animation. I used to want to be a Disney artist when I grew up. This picture is the background artwork for the movie Sleeping Beauty. I thought it went perfect with the nursery and sort of holds my own childhood dreams!

A friend gave us this G and I painted it to match the cricket bedding. It is hanging on his nursery door:

We have crickets on the curtains and Chad added his passion for flying above the closet doors. This is an actual prop from an unmanned aerial vehicle. The swing is just sitting in front of the closet for now. I am sure it will be in the living room when Gavin gets here.

And that is Gavin's little slice of heaven! Put together with a lot of love from his mommy and daddy. All we need now is for him to get here and enjoy it. Then I am sure it will be one huge mess and I will have to return to this blog to remind myself what it used to look like.

  2. Precious. Just absolutely precious. Your hard work and imagination shows in every room of your house especially, of course, in Gavin's nursery. I can hardly wait to see it or myself. Have a good day and keep your feet propped up!
