Happy 4th of July!

We celebrated America's birthday the way it should be: with a cookout, swimming and a few adult beverages. At first we thought it might be ruined with a nice sized thunderstorm rolling our way, but it did not last for long. We enjoyed some pool time with good friends and family and devoured BBQ, corn and all the trimmings of a good summer cookout.

Gavin is still trying to get used to the idea of a swimming pool. He spent some time in the water but mostly enjoyed sticking his fingers in any hole on the pool deck he could find and playing in the cooler. Whatever floats your boat, child. He and Tucker are still trying to figure out the concept of sharing their toys but they had a good time together. Of course Tucker was diving head first into the pool with no fear and Gavin was just watching him, taking it all in. I think those days of reckless abandonment might be in my near future.

Obviously, we missed Chad tremendously. However, we did get to Skype with him and he said they served pizza and ribs for lunch and dinner. American classics! He and Gavin played peek a boo and Gavin babbled to Daddy about whatever it is he babbles about. All in all, it was a good celebration. I just kept thinking how next year's will be so much better because Chad will more than likely be diving head first into the pool with Gavin.
