Things have been trucking along in our new settings. We are trying to keep busy with friends and family. Gavin has gone swimming, been practically everywhere in Tallahassee on his trike and thoroughly enjoys hanging out with the Rogers side of the family. Everyone has been beyond grateful in spending time with us and helping us pass the time while Chad is away.

Experiencing my first 3D movie with my brother. I was way more thrilled about it than he was :) |

Gavin is certainly not slowing down in the development department since we moved to Florida. He is learning more sign language, starting to get picky with what foods he will eat and knows where his ears, mouth and belly button are. All that and the kid still won't walk on his own. He will take a few steps to me if I beg him but otherwise, he has no interest in it whatsoever. He walks just fine while I am holding one of his hands but the minute I let go, down he goes. Everyone keeps telling me to "enjoy it" but my back is killing me. Lugging around 25 pounds on a daily basis is not my idea of fun. I have half a mind to duct tape him to a skateboard and make him learn to walk out of pure embarrasment. I do have to say, he is determined to do it on his own terms and I can respect that.

Always being so silly |

Seriously, one of my favorite things about Gavin is his 'nap hair'. It is everywhere. Chad says its his 'George Washington look'. We love it!!! |

Walking in Papa's shoes
On these hot Florida days, a dip in the outside kitchen sink is just perfect: |
Gavin is hilarious to watch while we are Skyping with Chad. It has gotten to the point now, as soon as he hears that familiar tone of the ringing of Skype, he immediately starts saying "Dada! Dada!" We joke that he thinks Chad is now a computer app that knows his name and plays games with him. All joking aside, he really loves seeing his daddy. He laughs at him and shows him all his new anatomy pointing skills. It has truly been a blessing while Chad has been deployed. I want to find out who invented it and send them a Christmas card or some sort of token of appreciation. No one benefits more from that wonderful creation than military families. We miss him so much but are so grateful to be able to see him almost on a daily basis.
Chad has been busy ever since he got to Afghanistan. His schedule has had him flying at night and in the early morning hours, which he likes. It puts him more on our schedule and he says it makes the days go by so much faster. He has lost so much weight since he's been there. He looks really good and healthy and says he is enjoying getting back into running.

Chad flew a flag behind his plane and sent it to the boys that sent him a care package a few weeks ago.
(I told you about them in a previous blog) |
We have lots of fun things planned in the weeks ahead. Gavin and I are heading to Atlanta this weekend to see a college friend of mine. Then we are all loading up in the RV and heading to Naples for a week. In August, Gavin and I are boarding a plane and flying to New Jersey to see a very dear and old friend of mine. So we have lots of busy days ahead of us and then it is FINALLY football season!!!!!! Lord have mercy, I cannot wait!!
